The Food and Drug Administration defy Catholic Bishops on abortion pills

The US Catholic Bishop’s appeal to reject the proposed over-the-counter use of the progestin only “mini-pill” contraceptive hit a major snug as prescription free birth control pills will be available across the US later this month.

According to France 24, over-the-counter (OTC) birth control has long been backed by major medical organizations as a way to reduce barriers to contraception access, with almost half of the more than 6.1 million pregnancies in the US each year unintended.

First Ramadan prayers at Temple Mount end peacefully amid Israel-Hamas War

The first Friday prayers of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan passed without violence at the revered Al-Aqsa mosque under tight Israeli restrictions, amid fears that the ongoing Israel-Hamas war would spark clashes in Jerusalem’s Old City.

According to the Times of Israel, more than 3,000 police officers and border police soldiers were deployed across the Old City of Jerusalem ahead of the prayers amid fears of disturbances after Hamas called on Palestinian worshipers to barricade themselves inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Biggest US pharmacies to begin selling abortion Pill

Walgreens and CVS, the two largest pharmacy chains in the U.S, will start selling Mifepristone an abortion pill as soon as this month, the companies said in a statement.

According to the The Wall Street Journal, the two pharmacy chains are to dispense the pills, following a regulatory shift last year by the US Food and Drug Administration to allow bricks and mortar pharmacies to offer the pill with a prescription.

European Union opens formal proceedings against TikTok

The European Union has launched a formal investigation into TikTok to determine whether the company is doing enough to protect minors on its platform.

The EU said it would look at whether TikTok is doing enough to address risks on the platform through measures such as age verification tools which are meant to keep minors from seeing inappropriate content.
