Bani (name of the elephant) was left orphaned in December after a tragic incident involving a speeding train near Jim Corbett national park in Haldwani. Her mother was killed instantly, while baby Bani was flung into a ditch, suffering serious injuries and fractures. Despite the challenging circumstances, Bani is slowly recovering and showing signs of playfulness, especially when she gets her favorite treat, bananas.

According to a research professor of computer science and an expert in image manipulation, in NBC News, “People want to see it as ‘this is fake image, this is not.” Professor Maura Grossman cautioned that the wide range of tools for media manipulation can lead to a more complicated view of what might count as real.

In a coordinated effort to confront Beijing’s alleged cyber espionage activities, the United States Department of Justice has unsealed an indictment targeting seven Chinese state-sponsored hackers.

The indictment alleges a widespread, 14-year campaign aimed at U.S. and foreign targets, including businesses, political officials, and critics, in pursuit of China’s economic espionage and political spying objectives. Simultaneously, the U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on two hackers and a front company involved in breaching critical U.S. infrastructure, including defence and energy sectors.
